Serie A giants Fiorentina are preparing a bid for Tottenham and England midfielder Scott Parker, according to Football Italia.
Parker joined Tottenham for a fee of about £5m on 31 August 2011.
Fiorentina defensive midfielder David Pizarro has recently revealed he would like to leave the club after their failure to secure a Champions League spot. The Viola club are now looking for a replacement for the former Manchester City midfielder and Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella has identified Parker as his primary target this summer to add depth into his midfield.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport the 32-year-old English midfielder could be available for €7m.
Parker has had an injury-plagued season at Spurs and has struggled to hold down a starting berth. Brazilian midfielder Sandro was above Parker in the pecking order this past season and Parker was second choice until Sandro's injury in early January.
Parker finished his first season at Spurs as Player of the Year and has made 62 appearances for Spurs but has yet to register a goal for the club.
He has also made 18 appearances for England and was named man of the match in England's 1-0 win over Spain in November 2011.
He also captained his country against the Netherlands in February 2012. However, due to losing his place in the Spurs team, he has not played for England recently, with manager Roy Hodgson preferring Phil Jones and Tom Cleverley.
A move to Serie A would make sense for Parker to play first-team football on a regular basis and win his place back in the England team.
