Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is an admirer of the Lyon youngster Clement Grenier.

At 22, the midfielder is one of France’s hottest prospects and has already been called up to the national team.

His accurate passing ability, eye for goal, and overall leadership qualities put him on the map and caught Wenger’s eye. Grenier recently hinted at a move away from Lyon and, specifically, to Arsenal.

He made his Lyon debut in the 2009/10 season but struggled to make his mark without regular first-team football. In the 2011/12 season he fared better with 23 appearances, showing heaps of potential. And last season he finally became a first-team regular, notching up 32 appearances, seven goals and nine assists.

Now, it seems, the French youngster would like to swap life in France for a chance to play in the Premier League. He is rated at £8m and Arsenal are reportedly ready to shell it out for the midfielder.

“I have more or less made a decision about which club I want to join," Grenier told reporters. “I have made the choice for sporting reasons above all. Arsenal? It could well be them.

“There would be competition for places, but you get that at all big clubs and it does not stop me making my decision.

“I am still young, but I have always set myself targets and I do everything possible to exceed them.”

As with seemingly all of Arsenal’s targets this summer, Juventus are also keen on snapping up this young talent. However, according to Grenier the decision has been made and we’ll just have to wait and see what the Frenchman decided on.
