Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany believes the club must strengthen their squad this summer if they are to be key contenders in the Premier League title race.
The Belgian defender has stated his views as he sees as many as seven teams as real contenders for the Premier League title next season.
With Manchester United easily snatching back the title from 'noisy neighbours' City last season, it's safe to say the only real contenders for trophy were the two Manchester teams with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham falling short early on.
David Moyes's appointment at United as well as Jose Mourinho's expected return to Stamford Bridge means four of the top six teams will be under new management next season - setting foundations for a potential title upset next season.
Kompany has called upon City's hierachy to avoid the same mistakes they made last summer, and to strengthen their squad using the large funds available.
"I've seen every single club strengthen every season. Teams can come from nowhere to win the league," he told The Sun.
"You cannot rule out Liverpool, Tottenham and even Everton were really good this year. Then you have the usuals like Arsenal, Chelsea and United.
"But there is a chance to strengthen our team and compete again for the league."
