Tottenham Hotspur make €30m offer for Colombian striker

Published 7 Comments

Tottenham Hotspur have made a €30million offer for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez, according to reports.

Portuguese newspaper Record claims that Andre Villas-Boas has made the move, despite the figure falling €10million short of the Colombian international’s minimum fee release clause at the Estadio do Dragao.

Martinez has had a first season to remember in the Portuguese Primera Liga, scoring 26 goals in 27 games for the champions following a move from Jaguares in Mexico.

It’s form that has alerted Premier League clubs, with Spurs now eager to bring the 26-year-old to White Hart Lane.

Villas-Boas was short of strikers last season as his team ultimately fell short in their quest for a Champions League place, with Jermain Defoe’s injuries and Emmanuel Adebayor’s lack of form hampering their efforts.

It’s led to Tottenham Hotspur being linked with strikers this summer, and Spanish international David Villa is another player reported to be on the north London radar.

The first move has been made for Martinez however, and Spurs don’t appear to be wasting any time in their efforts to strengthen the squad.
