With the American football pre-season getting underway in just over two months, we take a look at some of the most highly anticipated warm-up games for the new season.

1. Seattle Seahawks vs Green Bay Packers

Both teams ended up the season with 11-5 records, and were ultimately knocked out in the second round of the play-offs. A narrow victory for Green Bay in Seattle when these teams met early last season ensures this game should be competitive and a close affair, whilst both teams are attractive to watch under the GB's Aaron Rodgers and Seattle's rookie QB Russell Wilson.

2. Minnesota Vikings vs San Fransico 49ers

The 49ers were desperately unlucky to miss out on a sixth Super Bowl crown in February, losing to the Baltimore Ravens by a mere three points. The Vikings meanwhile were knocked out in the first play-off round by the Green Bay Packers, though will have been buoyed by the sensational form of running back Adrian Peterson who fell just nine yards short of becoming the league's highest rusher in a single season. They will also no doubt use the game to assess high-profile draft picks in Sharrif Floyd, Xavier Rhodes and Cordarelle Patterson.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers vs Washington Redskins

An intriguing match-up of attack vs. defence, as Robert Griffin III leads his Redskins attack against the most solid defence in the league last season, despite the Steelers failing to make the post-season. The Redskins meanwhile cruised into the play-offs having won the NFC East, but failed to overcome the Seattle Seahawks after an injury to Griffin during the game, and will hope to get their attack firing on all cylinders once again against Pittsburgh prior to the new season.
