It has been confirmed that Barcelona paid €57m for Brazil star Neymar.
It is reported that the fee of €40m had been agreed upon, until other clubs such as Real Madrid also attempted to sign the Santos forward.
Neymar’s price eventually rose €17m for Barcelona to still be in the running for the versatile forward.
Real Madrid are believed to have offered Neymar more money, but the player cited that it was happiness that he wanted and it was never about money when he and his family discussed a move to Europe.
Neymar’s largest factor was playing alongside world-class footballers - and, in particular, the player he again called the best player in the world: Lionel Messi.
The €57m fee will be split between the four parties that own the Brazil international, including his former club Santos.
It remains to be seen how Messi and Neymar will be played together - although Barcelona's latest signing said that he was keen to help Messi remain the best player in the world.
