Jose Mourinho has told Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to go out and land him a trio of transfer targets as he bids to get the Blues back to the Premier League summit.
Mourinho has his eye on Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, Benfica holding midfielder Nemanja Matic and Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Chelsea announced Mourinho had returned for his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge on Monday morning and the former Real Madrid manager vowed to bring the good times back to the west London club.
Dzeko was something of a bit part player at Manchester City last season and his future at the deposed Premier League champions as been questioned for some time.
Meanwhile, Matic would be returning to Chelsea after failing to make an impression during his two seasons there after joining in 2009.
The 25-year-old Serbian international has been in impressive form fro Benfica over the past two seasons, but really came into his own this year with the sale of Javi Garcia to Manchester City.
Porto star Mangala is something of a raw prospect at just 22 years old, though he has had a breakthrough year this year and is also a France Under-21 regular.
The report also claims Chelsea are close to wrapping up the signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s young German international forward Andre Schürrle.
