The 21-year old signed for a reported €57m on a five-year deal from Brazilian side Santos on Monday.

The striker has admitted that it's been his desire to play for the Catalan giants.

“I’m very happy to be here," he said in a press conference after being officially unveiled as a Barcelona player. "This has always been my dream, both when I was a child and now that I’m an adult."

The youngster, who has scored 20 goals in 33 appearance for his country, was greeted by tens of thousands of spectators as he was presented at the Nou Camp.

Neymar will now fly back to Brazil to compete for his nation in the Confederations Cup, which starts later this month.

He has admitted that he's looking forward to playing alongside fellow superstars.

“I’m very emotional to have a the chance to play alongside players who I have admired since I was a kid, like Messi, Xavi and Iniesta,” the 21-year-old added.

In 103 league appearances, Neymar scored 54 goals and shown emotion in his final game for the club as tears streamed down his face.

There was speculation linking the Brazilian to Barcelona rivals Real Madrid he insists there was only one club he wanted to move to but knows he may have to adapt after his move to Europe.

"Big clubs wanted to sign me, but I was led by my heart," he continued. "This means that I was convinced and happy to sign for Barça.

"I think it could be a difficult change for me, but I believe that I need to adapt quickly so that I can have a normal life and so that I can bring joy to the fans.”

The new signing was also asked about the prospect of playing alongside FIFA Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

Neymar revealed that he hopes that his signing can help the Argentinians career even more.

“I think it will be very easy to play alongside the best player in the world. I’m here because I want to help him to continue to be the best and help him win more FIFA Ballons d’Or.”
