Manchester City are being linked with a €25million move for Real Madrid defender Pepe.
Spanish publication AS claims a Citizens delegation will travel to the Santiago Bernabeu this week, and look to negotiate a deal to bring the Portuguese centre back to the Etihad Stadium.
The paper goes on to claim Manuel Pellegrini, who is yet to be officially appointed as Manchester City manager, is a big admirer of the 30-year-old.
Pepe began his career at Maritimo, but came to prominence following a move to FC Porto back in 2004. His first season was spent mainly as a back-up, before becoming a key part of the side at the Estadio do Dragao in the next two campaigns.
His form earned him a move to Real Madrid, and the 51-cap international has featured regularly in the Spanish capital ever since.
However, his future with the club is now in doubt, with Raphael Varane replacing Pepe towards the end of the last campaign.
Despite being contracted to the club until 2016, a move to Manchester City would offer the defender a chance to land one final ‘big’ contract, according to the paper, and would also give Pepe the chance to test his skills in the Premier League.
