Usain Bolt will return from injury on Thursday as he competes in the 100m at the Diamond League in Rome reports BBC Sport.

The Jamaican suffered a hamstring injury last month but will race in the Stadio Olimpico and will face off against London 2012 bronze medallist Justin Gatlin.

The line up for the 100m also features former world champion Kim Collins and Briton Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.

It will be Bolt's second 100m race of 2013 after he beat compatriot Kemar Bailey-Cole in a photo finish in Cayman last month but ran a slow pace for Bolt - 10.09.

Other athletes competing in Rome include British triple jumper Phillips Idowu.

Idowu failed to qualify for the final of his event at the Olympic Games last year but will come up against world and Olympic champion Christian Taylor.

There are more gold medallists from the 2012 Games as 200m champion Allyson Felix of the USA will race over that distance in Rome.

French pole vault Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie will also be in action on Thursday evening.

2011 world champion Dai Greene lines up for Britain in the 400m hurdles as he takes on compatriot Jack Green.
