New Barcelona signing Neymar has heaped praise on Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and claimed he is so good he could he could play for Brazil.
Rooney scored a classy goal in England’s 2-2 draw with Brazil in the Maracana on Sunday and Neymar was suitably impressed with his skills.
“He is one of the best. His technique, his strength, his ability to score many goals — he could be Brazilian,” he said.
Neymar is already considered by many to be one of world football’s leading stars and he will be playing alongside the man who some consider the best ever next season in Lionel Messi.
The 21-year-old sensation believes Rooney deserves to be ranked alongside the likes of his new Barcelona teammate Messi and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Neymar feels 27-year-old does not have enough support when turning out for the Three Lions for his brilliance to be exploited fully.
After Sunday’s draw Neymar wrote off England’s chances at next year’s World Cup in Brazil, but revised his view slightly later on.
While being critical of Roy Hodgson’s side, Neymar was full of praise for Rooney in claiming England would have a chance next year if the Old Trafford star could fill every position in the side.
“I will change what I said: England do have a chance at the World Cup but only if they can find ten more Rooneys before then,” he added.
“He is one of the best players in the world but no player can win a World Cup on his own.”
