French winger Franck Ribery is set to sign a new contract at European champions Bayern Munich.
Ribery joined Munich in 2007 and his current contract is set to run out in 2015. He played a significant role in the German teams season, which saw them win an historic treble and now he wants to extend his stay.
With Pep Guardiola replacing Jupp Heynckes as Bayern Munich manager, Ribery has confirmed he is close to signing a new contract.
"We have discussed it all," stated Ribery. "And saying 'yes' means 'yes' to me. We would not really need a player (to sign on).
"But I know we have to sign and this will happen as soon as possible, although there is no use to feeling like being in a rush."
Ribery has also stated he is very happy at Bayern and even hinted at finishing his career at the German giants.
He continued by saying: "I am excited about being at Bayern Munich. I am very happy too, like I have never been in my life before. Why should I join another club? To move elsewhere and potentially feel less happy?
"If I am going to retire from the game as a Bayern Munich player I would like to do it as a 'Grand Seigneur', with a testimonial match."
The 30-year-old had been linked with the likes of Chelsea in previous seasons but instead opted to join Bayern Munich.
Bayern have already improved their treble winning squad with the signing of Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund. And with Ribery set to stay at Munich, Guardiola will look to continue the success of the Bavarians in the coming years.
