Behind the scenes with Jess Ennis at training

Published Add your comment

Jessica Ennis rightly received all the plaudits after her historic Olympic gold medal in London last summer - but what about those behind the scenes working away to help the Sheffield star be the best she can be when the cameras aren't rolling?

Training for a heptathlon can be something of a lonely slog - but not when you have a crack team of training partners alongside you to keep you company.

Luckily that's just what Ennis can call upon when he she's putting in the hard yards in training.

A new video released today sheds some light on the people who help Ennis get into shape before a big competition - her training partners.

John Lane, Louise Bloor, Karla Drew can all be seen helping to put the 27-year-old through her paces - as well as sharing a joke or two to help alleviate the agony of pushing themselves to the limit.

With these guys on board, training for a shot at gold in the World Championships later this summer should be that little bit easier.

Here's to the unsung heroes who play a key role in making one of Britain's best loved athletes as good as she is.
