Elite European football is over for another season and fans are heading into the desert of the transfer window, with its unbearable hot air, cruel mirages and unquenchable thirst.
It really can be a place of pure misery for followers of certain clubs, so GMS have decided to lighten the mood and revel in the brilliance of the actaul football we watched last season.
GMS have considered the football played throughout Europe’s top five leagues (if you don’t know which we are referring to you’ve not been keeping up) this season and have decided to hand out a few awards.
The categories will relate to positions and one for the best manager – so there’s best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and attacker.
GMS realises certain players will fit into more than one category or some will struggle to be defined by any of the categories – that’s just tough luck.
Democracy will not feature in these awards – the GMS end of season gongs will be decided by GMS alone.
The award will be for consistent performance in the player’s respective domestic league and in Europe, if applicable.
If you don’t agree with the GMS picks, we want to know about it – leave a comment below and join the debate!
