Manchester United's David De Gea scored a stunning free-kick during Spain under-21s training earlier this week.

The Spanish youth side kick off their European under-21 Championship campaign against Russia in Israel this afternoon.

With the likes of Barcelona's Thiago Alcantara, Malaga's Isco and Benfica's Rodrigo in the set up, the defending champions have no shortage of set-piece specialists.

But maybe their best bet for set-piece success comes from an unlikelier source - De Gea. The United stopper enjoyed an excellent campaign for Sir Alex Ferguson's side last season, and has won praise for his nifty footwork and smart distribution at Old Trafford.

And his reputation on the deck is only going to be enhanced after footage emerged of De Gea curling home a beauty in training with the under-21s.

So, De Gea on free-kick duty at Old Trafford next season? Robin Van Persie better watch out...
