Chelsea and Manchester City are set to go head-to-head in a transfer battle for Adil Rami, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen on the 27-year-old French international centre back, and is considering a move for the player.

However, the Citizens also hold an interest in the player, and are pondering a summer swoop for the Valencia star.

Mourinho is back at Chelsea for a second spell in charge of the club, and has been linked with a string of players in a variety of positions.

Whilst David Luiz could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala is another player said to be on the west London radar.

Manchester City, meanwhile, have been linked with Real Madrid defender Pepe as they look to make changes and challenge for the Premier League title once again.

But, a new manager is yet to be appointed at the Etihad Stadium, which could hamper City’s pursuit of players in the coming months.

Manuel Pellegrini is the hot favourite to land the job, and of he does pursue Rami, then a transfer battle with Chelsea could be on the cards.
