The first European Tour event of the season is on this weekend as the Bulgarian Open takes place in Sofia.

Current World Champion Ronnie O'Sullivan faces Michael Wild in the first round while defending champion Judd Trump will play Sanderson Lam.

Crucible runner up Barry Hawkins is against Alexander Ursenbache while Australian Neil Robertson plays Iveilo Pekov.

The tournament consists of games of best of seven frames, with the winner picking up €25,000.

It starts on Friday and with the matches being of such a short nature, the event will be finished by Sunday.

Even a win in the first round picks you up some cash, with those making it through to the last 64 earning themselves €700.

More importantly, 2000 ranking points are up for grabs for the winner of the Bulgarian event.

The world's top 16 players are no longer guaranteed a place in the latter stages of most ranking events and have to enter in the first round instead of being put through straight through to the last 32.
