James DeGale: Carl Froch is perfect for me
James DeGale feels he has the perfect style to “destroy” Carl Froch if the pair meet
Olympic Gold medallist James de Gale opened the door to a high-profile fight with Carl Froch and claims his style would be perfect to beat the Nottingham fighter.
Froch is fresh from a unanimous points decision over Mikel Kessler and is expected to set up a third fight between the pair as a ‘decider’ after the win at the O2 Arena made it one win each in two fights.
After Kessler, Froch is being tipped to face fellow Briton George Groves, but De Gale insisted he is ready and waiting if ‘The Cobra’ believes he can swat him aside.
De Gale referred to comments made by Froch where the IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion claimed he would destroy the Londoner’s carrer, but posited the reality might actually be the opposite.
Groves defeated DeGale in 2011 to take his British super-middleweight title, but the 27-year-old believes he has the better style to defeat Froch.
“He's a good fighter Carl Froch, a very good fighter, but my style is all wrong for him,” he told Sky Sports.
"Look at the fighters that have given him trouble, Ward, Dirrell, (Jermain) Taylor. Move, speed, I think I'll be all wrong for him.
"I'm here if Carl Froch wants the fight. If the boxing fans want the fight, I'm here. I would have it next week, but I'm not too sure what he wants to do.
"I've heard he said if he fought me, he would destroy my career. I think it's the other way around. If I fought him and beat him, how could he lose to me?"
