Reports have suggested that newly re-appointed Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is ready to spend £35m on Zenit St. Petersburg striker Hulk, with the striker personally confirming the rumours himself.
Chelsea and Jose Mourinho have made Hulk their number one transfer target of this summer, but the striker comes with a hefty price-tag. Chelsea lost the battle to sign Colombian striker Radamel Falcao to AS Monaco, so have turned to Hulk as the answer to provide the goals next season.
Zenit St. Petersburg appear to be holding out for around £50m, much more towards the fee that they played Liga Portuguesa side FC Porto in 2012.
Hulk is currently preparing for the Confederations Cup with national team Brazil, but Brazilian football magazine Globo Esporte have suggested that Hulk has confirmed the rumours.
In the interview with Globo Esporte Hulk is quoted as saying in relation to the rumours: "If I said there was not anything in it, I would be lying. But that is it for now. I am 100 per cent focused on the national team at the moment."
"I came to wear this Brazil shirt with pride. My family and my friends are following me. I hope to win the Confederations Cup," continued Hulk.
The media speculation linking Chelsea with Hulk intensifies the rumours that Mourinho is not looking to include Fernando Torres in his future plans.
That leaves Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku as the remaining strikers at the Bridge, with Mourinho having not commented on their respective futures.
