Newcastle United star denies dressing room split
Premier League news: Yohan Cabaye has hit out at claims there was a split in the Newcastle United dressing room
Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has denied claims that there was a split in the club's dressing room towards the end of the season.
The Magpies finished the season in 16th place after finishing fifth the previous year - Cabaye's first campaign with the club.
The 27-year-old is one of ten Frenchmen in the squad and Cabaye has hit out at accusations of splits in the camp, with some fingers pointed at the French contingent.
Cabaye told The Shields Gazette: "It is always complicated to all arrive together; the club did as much as they could to help, with an interpreter to help them settle.
“But with regards to the overall group, there were never any tension. If anything, the group lived well together, and we all stuck together to avoid relegation."
Cabaye was one of the first out of the current Frenchmen to join the club when he signed for the north-east outfit from Lille in 2011.
He had a successful first season at Newcastle, making 34 league appearances and finding the net on four occasions. He also provided nine assists as Newcastle secured a Europa League place.
It was a less successful year for the club this time round though as they battled for survival, eventually finishing five points clear of the drop zone.
Cabaye was one of many Newcastle players who suffered from injury during the campaign, and he made 26 league appearances this season, scoring six times.
