Boston Bruins beat Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 after overtime to take a 3-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference finals.

It means the Bruins need just one more win to secure their place in the finals of the Stanley Cup.

Patrice Bergeron scored the winning goal just 15 minutes and 19 seconds into overtime to send the home fans wild.

The first game was won 3-0 with Bruins also taking the second 6-1 so in comparison, the third win proved the trickiest for the Pittsburgh side.

It looks good for the Bruins as only three teams have ever blown a 3-0 series lead in the history of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The fourth game of the series takes place today.

The winners of the Eastern Conference finals play the victors from the Western Conference with so far the Chicago Blackhawks leading the Los Angeles Kings by two games to one.

The Blackhawks did have a two game lead following wins of 2-1 and 4-2 before the Kings fought back in the last game to win 3-1.

The Stanley Cup finals are also a seven game series being held mid-late June.
