Mario Balotelli punches wall after sending off

Published 39 Comments

Mario Balotelli saw red in the 72nd minute playing for Italy against the Czech Republic last night, and it’s safe to say he didn’t take it well.

After picking up his second booking of the match within three minutes for a pretty tame foul in the second half, the former-Manchester City striker was given his marching orders.

Proceeding up the tunnel, Italy’s number nine took out his frustration on the nearest inanimate object – in this case, the tunnel wall.

A couple of quick jabs were thrown, all pretty mild stuff and Balotelli was shepherded down to the dressing room. Cesare Prandelli, the Italy coach, attempted to calm him down, but the AC Milan man was furious with the two yellows in quick succession.

The sending off didn’t prove costly though, as Italy held on for a 0-0 draw against the Czechs, widening their lead in FIFA World Cup qualifying Group B to four points.
