Lionel Messi will be active in the hyped up match branded as “The Battle of the Stars” in Los Angeles, USA, on July 3.
The four-time Ballon d’Or winner will be taking his game for another time to the United States, where his popularity is remarkably mounting.
Business Wire reports that, in an official match promo on YouTube, Messi stated: “I invite you on July 3rd to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to experience an unforgettable match, with the best soccer stars in the world.”
Fervent fans of European football in Los Angeles will have the chance to see big names performing, including Barcelona players Javier Mascherano, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Cesc Fabregas.
Mexican midfielder Giovani dos Santos, Borussia Dortmund playmaker Robert Lewandowski and Brazilian winger Robinho will also be in action.
Premier League followers will furthermore have their attention captured by the match, as Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will be participating in the encounter.
A Messi and Friends vs Rest of the World charity match was similarly organized last year in the World Soccer Masters Tour, and the No.10 ace sparkled by scoring three goals as the game ended 7-7.
Uruguayan attacker Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani took part in that challenge, which took place just a day before Messi’s 25th birthday.
This year, the Battle of the Stars has been scheduled for July 3, but the event appears to require a bit more advertisement, considering its official Twitter page has attracted only about 40 followers in its ten first days, since May 29.
Below are the full line-ups for the match at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
