Thank goodness for Brazil and their national league; the summer schedule means we have plenty to get our fix of club football through the off-season.
Last year’s Campeonato Brasileiro champions Fluminense gave us another example of why many feel the national league in Brazil is one of the most entertaining going.
Losing at home to Goias going into the last ten minutes, Flu were able to turn the match on it’s head and claim a precious win thanks to the intervention of Rafael Sóbis.
The well travelled forward picked up the ball on the right and was pursued into what looked like a tight spot he would not be able to get out of.
However, Sóbis showed great strength and touch to break out between the defenders, before approaching the box and curling a beauty into the far top corner from all of 25 yards.
The former Brazil international brought Fluminense level with his spectacular strike and the reigning champions went on to steal the three points in the dying minutes.
It was an absolute beauty and thanks to 101GreatGoals for bringing it to our attention.
Watch Rafael Sóbis score a 25-yard solo wondergoal below…
