The World Cup: Still the pinnacle for football?
Is the World Cup still the greatest competition in football?
Once upon a time being called upon to represent your country was an honour - participating in the World Cup was the pinnacle of the sport.
Has the luxurious lifestyle and the elegance of performing in Europe's premier competition tampered the once unimaginable commitment of playing for your nation?
The club game no matter how financial adept cannot adhere to the fan quite the way watching your country participating in the glorious and historic stage of the Fifa World Cup.
It can still evoke moments of brilliance that enrapture fans of the wonderful game.
Understandably it's a tournament that can enrage an entire country. A contributing factor to some teams failing to enthral fans of their respective nation could be down to the insurmountable pressure the media and fans continue to place on them mixed alongside Individualist's selfishly refusing to sacrifice the statistics for the greater purpose of the sides glory.
Egotism reigns in all levels of the game but in international football the manager isn't afforded the time to blend together colliding personalities and constant reshaping of trying to determine the right system.
The scene is set for the 2014 World Cup, Brazil, famous for their success in the tournament along with their captivating style of play. Enriched with beautiful stadiums, history and arguably the best production line of exports.
As football fans begin to salivate in anticipation of the grand tournament as it promises to fulfil the hype that surrounds it.
The story lines begin to grip fans around the world, will the Spanish defend their crown or can the youthful home nation spearheaded by their nucleus and effervescent forward Neymar place their own names alongside the greats of the Brazilian game.
At its heart the World Cup is still the tournament that will bring so much joy to those watching but at a splits end can shatter an entire country's dream.
