Juventus favourites to beat Arsenal to Higuain

Juventus have been made the bookmakers' favourite to beat Arsenal to the signature of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain during the summer transfer window.

The Argentina international appears likely to leave the Santiago Bernabeu before August's transfer deadline, with Juventus and Arsenal placed as the frontrunners to sign him.

Arsenal are reported to have held talks with the agent of Higuain as Arsene Wenger looks to reinforce his goalscoring department, while Juve are also in the market for another striker.

Sky Bet have listed Juventus as the heavy favourites to sign Higuain ahead of Arsenal, with the Italian champions available at 2/9 compared to the Gunners at 3/1 to sign the 25-year-old.

Juventus have already completed the capture of Spain forward Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao, but appear intent on making another signing of note when the transfer period begins next month.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have themselves been linked with a number of potential acquistions as the club look to make an impact in the market this summer.

Along with Higuian, Arsenal are reported to retain an interest in David Villa of Barcelona, while the club are also reportedly considering an audacious attempt to sign Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.
