Goalkeeper mis-kick plays part in penalty fail

Published 1 Comments

The brother of Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny brought shame upon the family name after a comical error in a Polish 6th division clash at the weekend.

Thankfully for younger sibling Jan, his mistake had little impact on the eventual scoreline, as PKS Radosc ran out 2-1 winners against Bobr Tluszcz.

However, that didn't prevent Szczesny Jnr from becoming the laughing stock of the stands, after his terrible mis-kick played a significant role in Radosc conceding a penalty moments later.

His miscued clearance under little pressure presented an opposition striker with a clear chance on goal, before one of his team-mates brought down the Bobr Tluszcz player with a clumsy challenge in the box, leaving the referee with no option but to point to the spot.

Then, in an attempt to redeem himself for the earlier error, Szczesny came within a fingertip save of keeping out the spot-kick, only to see the tame shot squirm underneath him and into the bottom corner.

Watch footage of Jan Szczesny's shocking air-shot and lame attempt to save the penalty in the video below - with special thanks to 101greatgoals.com - and feel free to share your favourite goalkeeper clangers in the comment box provided!
