Managers up and down the land will have, by now, drawn up an exhaustive list of transfer targets for the summer window as they begin to make moves to reinforce their respective squads before the September deadline.

These wish lists may contain hundreds of names as contingency plan after contingency plan is put in place should a team be unable to capture of their top target during before the season begins.

Signing a No.1 target is sure to provide the coaching staff, players and supporters with the fillip required before the next campaign, but a team missing out on their first choice is not always necessarily a bad thing.
