Aston Villa are looking to secure the signature of young Danish striker Nicklas Helenius for next season.
The Aalborg BK striker had an impressive campaign in Danish Superliga notching 16 goals and seven assists, in 33 appearances last season.
The 22-year-old striker possesses a gigantic figure in front of goal with his 6 ft 5 in frame. The striker is coming in the aftermath of an impressive Danish Superliga campaign. In his last eight games, the striker had scored five goals and will be looking to carry his goal-scoring exploits to England.
Villa are on the lookout for striking additions this summer as manager Paul Lambert doesn’t see a future for out of favour striker Darren Bent, while Christian Benteke is a hot property in the transfer market, with Tottenham chasing his signature. A new striker will freshen up Villa attack and it's believed to be one of the priorities for Lambert and Villa in the summer window.
Currently Lambert is in negotiations with Aalborg for the signature of Helenius, and hopes that the move will be completed soon.
A statement on Villa's website read: "The club expects to conclude the deal, subject to a medical and personal terms, in the next 10 days."
Helenius was the second highest scorer in the Danish Superliga last season and has scored 40 goals in 100 appearances for the club, after breaking through the clubs youth ranks.
He's also been capped twice by Denmark and is highly rated by many - a move to Aston Villa might be the perfect platform to launch his career.
