Manchester United have been dealt an apparent blow in their transfer window pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, with Florentino Perez maintaining he wants to keep the player at Real Madrid for life.

According to The Sun, Perez is ready to offer Ronaldo a new five year contract worth a staggering £125 million, and is confident the Portugal captain will commit his future to Real Madrid before the start of next season.

Ronaldo will reportedly receive £250,000-per-week net from Real Madrid when the new 50 percent Spanish tax law comes into force, and Perez is expecting the former Manchester United star to end his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I would bet Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid because it’s the natural thing," the Real Madrid president told Marca.

"We will negotiate the new contract before the start of La Liga and I am convinced that everything will come out well."

He added: "To renew Cristiano before the start of the season is my desire and my ambition.

"We all want that he retires at Real Madrid. We will do everything possible to make it happen."

Manchester United are reported to have been constructing a proposal in order to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford before the transfer deadline in September, although will seemingly find it difficult to secure a deal.

Staying at Real Madrid would appear to be the most likely outcome for the 28-year-old, although mega-rich Monaco are reportedly planning a €100 million offer for Ronaldo if his contract situation is not quickly resolved.
