Manchester United could be about to lose out on transfer target Claudio Marchisio after AS Monaco made a €30million bid.

According to Tuttosport, the mega-rich Ligue 1 side are ready to make a bid Juventus cannot turn down to land the man that has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The report claims Juventus are tempted to cash in on Marchisio to help strengthen other areas of their squad and Monaco joining Manchester United in the chase could help to raise the fee.

New Manchester United manager David Moyes has inherited a centre midfield that will lose Paul Scholes to retirement, he is expected to lose underachiever Anderson and has uncertainties over the long-term health of Darren Fletcher.

Marchisio is a talented midfielder who can operate in a variety of positions and Moyes could see that Italy international as a useful addition to his squad.

However, Monaco’s interest will be a big blow to any Old Trafford interest as the newly promoted Ligue 1 side have been spending heavily ahead of an assault on PSG’s title next season.

Monaco have already secured the signing of superstar striker Radamel Falcao, Porto pair Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, as well as the free transfer capture of Ricardo Carvalho.
