Chelsea: Top goals of 2012/13 season

Published 2 Comments

This season may not have been Chelsea's most successful, but it has seen the Blues score a host of beautiful goals.

It seems like the London club have gone for quantity and quality with their portfolio this season, scoring a wide range of goals including delightful curlers, incredible solo goals as well as some scorchers from long range.

Here are the top 15 goals for Chelsea's 2012/13 season.

15. Eden Hazard vs Stoke City

This power drive from range would be slightly higher, had it not had a fortunate knick off the head of Huth.

14. Frank Lampard vs Aston Villa

Lampard scored this beautiful volley from range to mark his 500th appearance for the Blues. Chelsea went on to win the game 8-0.

13. Eden Hazard vs Aston Villa

Another brilliant goal from the same game. A quick one-two with Oscar and Hazard is in the box using his quick feet to the defender's dismay. Once he creates a bit of space, he powers the ball into the roof of the net.

12. Juan Mata vs Newcastle

A disappointing result for Chelsea, but that game saw two fabulous goals. Juan Mata scored the second with this delightful curler.

11. Frank Lampard vs Newcastle

Lampard finds himself with a bit of space outside the box, and in his typical fashion, powers the ball past the goalkeeper.

10. Oscar vs Shakhtar Donetsk

Admittedly not the goalkeeper's best moment, but no one could have predicted how well the young Brazilian would capitalise.

9. Eden Hazard vs West Ham United

Brilliant exchange with Mata and suddenly Hazard uses his pace and a brilliant touch to leave defenders on their knees, before hooking the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

8. Gary Cahill vs Tottenham

The defender shows incredible technique to volley with such power and precision.

7. Demba Ba vs Manchester City

Ba manages to adjust to the strange bounce with a wonderful piece of athleticism to overhead-volley the ball into the net.

6. Eden Hazard vs Manchester United

An absolutely blinding performance by the young Belgian that changed a game falling out of Chelsea's hands. Eden Hazard came on as a substitute and started the comeback with this sublime curler. This guy doesn't score tap-in's.

5. David Luiz vs FC Basel

The charismatic, big-haired Brazilian produced this piece of magic to send Chelsea to the Europa Cup final.

4. Demba Ba vs Manchester United

The Senegal international shows great determination to run behind the line and follow a seemingly dead-end ball by Juan Mata.

However, with another brilliant piece of athleticism, Ba hooks the ball with an outstretched foot on the volley to float the ball over the head of the helpless David De Gea.

3. Eden Hazard vs Sparta Prague

How many times is Hazard on this list? This is a supreme piece of skill and a wonderful powered drive forming one sublime goal.

2. David Luiz vs Fulham

Just as the commentator says "Chelsea need something special..", he is stopped by this thunderous-rocket of a shot. A great way for the fan-favourite to celebrate his 100th appearance for the Blues.

1. Oscar vs Juventus

The goal that needs no introduction. This officially won Chelsea Goal of the Season, and will also take the top spot on this list. How Oscar, on his first start for Chelsea, takes one touch to completely reverse his predicament, and befuddle world-class midfielder Andrea Pirlo, then produces this shot of incredible technique and beauty is beyond any football pundit.

The goal emits beauty and class, and should ensure a nomination for the Puskas Awards this year.
