£20m Manchester United target is 'like Paul Scholes'
Manchester United transfer news: Kevin Strootman compared to Paul Scholes
Kevin Strootman has the potential to replace Paul Scholes following the retirement of the Manchester United legend, according to the agent of the highly-rated Netherlands international.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a summer transfer to Old Trafford as the club search for midfield reinforcements following the retirement of Scholes at the end of last season.
Manchester United boss David Moyes is reported to have sent scouts to watch Strootman in action during the European under-21 Championship as he considers an approach to bring the player to the club.
With Moyes seemingly after another creative influence in his recently inherited Manchester United midfielder, the Scot has been informed that Strootman could be just the acquisition he is looking for before the transfer deadline.
"Maybe you could compare Kevin Strootman with a left-footed player in the Dutch squad like Willem van Hanegem [who played for Netherlands in the 1974 World Cup final]," agent Kevin Valkenburg told SportsDirect News.
"But in terms of more modern players he's like Paul Scholes."
He added: “Kevin is a strong player, with his mind set completely on winning every duel, every match.”
“He has a great left foot and his passing is excellent."
