Chelsea have had their apparent hopes of signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic ended after the agent of the Paris Saint-Germain star confirmed his client would stay at the Parc des Prices beyond the summer transfer window.

Ibrahimovic scored 35 times in all competitions for PSG during his first season with the club following a transfer from AC Milan, with the French club claiming their first league title in almost 20 years.

However, future of Ibrahimovic as a PSG player has been cast into doubt in recent weeks, with the Sweden international reported to be upset at Carlo Ancelotti's seemingly imminent move to Real Madrid.

Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo reported last week that Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Ibrahimovic, with new manager Jose Mourinho keen to bring the 31-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, however, may have to look elsewhere in their pursuit of goalscoring reinforcements, with Ibrahimovic's representative Mino Raiola claiming the future of the player is in Paris.

"Zlatan will continue next year. He is very happy in Paris," Raiola told RMC. "He won the title, he scored goals, he did his job, he did what he had to do and what he had promised."

Along with Ibrahimovic, Chelsea are also reported to be keen to acquire the services of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani before the transfer deadline in September.

Chelsea have, it is claimed, seen a bid rejected by Napoli, with the Italian club dismissing the Blues' offer of £34 million plus Fernando Torres for Cavani.
