Donnavan Kirk transfers back to Miami

Donnavan Kirk has returned to the University of Miami after two years with DePaul.

The forward spent 24 months with the Hurricanes as a freshman after joining back in 2009, but played minimal minutes under Frank Haith before transferring to a new home.

At DePaul, Kirk got an opportunity to play for two seasons, and he averaged 6.2 points and 3.9 rebounds a game for the Blue Devils last year.

The senior chose Miami over Colorado State, and is eligible to play immediately because he earned a degree during his time with DePaul.

"I am a lot stronger than when I came in to Miami as a freshman. My body is better. I am more intelligent. I have learned so much about the game. I am a better shot-blocker and a better shooter,” he said, according to State of the U.

“I made a lot of strides in my game at DePaul. But I still have a lot of strides to make."

The addition is a good one for Miami, who have lost six of their leading scorers from last season to either graduation or the NBA draft.

Kirk is likely to challenge for a starting spot in the power forward position, as Jim Larranaga looks to take his side beyond the Sweet Sixteen.
Sophomore Tonye Jekiri is also expected to have a bigger role next season, whilst the Hurricanes are also hoping to have Kansas State transfer Angel Rodriguez eligible immediately.
