Barcelona make approach for Manchester United striker target
Barcelona and Manchester United transfer news: Barca eye Lewandowski
Barcelona have made 'preliminary contact' with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, according to ESPN.
The Polish striker can count some of Europe's biggest clubs amongst his suitors - and now Barcelona are also in the race for his signature.
Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been credited with an interest in Lewandowski - with the latter said to have already agreed personal terms with the forward.
Borussia Dortmund remain adamant that Lewandowski won't be allowed to leave the club this summer, meaning he will be available on a free transfer when his contract expires next year.
Now according to ESPN, Barcelona may offer a solution that will leave all parties happy.
With Dortmund resolute in their insistence that they won't sell to Bayern, they may be willing to do business with Barcelona.
According to ESPN, initial contact has been made with the Manchester United target's representatives over a potential deal.
Whether the Catalan club will be successful should they choose to take their interest any further remains unclear - reports this morning suggested Dortmund will refuse bids this summer from other clubs in cluding Manchester United, even if it means letting Lewandowski leave for nothing.
Recent reports in Spain have suggested Barcelona are looking for another forward to add to their front line having already sapped up Neymar from Santos.
Meanwhile, Lewandowski's agent has downplayed suggestions his client's relationship with Dortmund had soured because of the on-going transfer saga.
