Sunderland's 2012/13 Player of the Year, Simon Mignolet, could be on his way to Arsenal or Liverpool this summer for around £9m, according to the Independent.

The Belgian goalkeeper put in a lot of great performances for the English side last season, and it is understood that both the Gunners and the Reds have approached Sunderland to enquire about the player's availability - but neither could match the asking price. A second bid for the player could be on the cards.

Liverpool may be in need of a top goalkeeper next season, with speculation linking Pepe Reina to La Liga champions Barcelona. Another player recently linked with a move to Anfield is Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The Independent revealed back in April that Arsenal have expressed a wish to acquire a fresh goalkeeper, with Arsene Wenger planning to make the Belgian his first-choice goalkeeper.

Mignolet has also expressed an interest in leaving the Stadium of Light for  a team with a higher profile, to aid his ambitions for the upcoming 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

The Belgian is currently valued at around £9m and has two years remaining on his contract with the Black Cats. The team will be fully aware that as time continues, the player's value will decrease.

With plenty time still left in this transfer window, a move could get happen.
