Cardiff City have finally made it to the Premier League after falling at the final hurdle last year.
The club's manager Malky Mackay has learned the hard lessons from his past, and has gathered a good team at Wales.
Mackay’s squad’s main strength will be their dressing room unity and the competitive spirit they show till the end. They are determined to fight for a common cause and Mackay deserves plaudits for gathering a bunch of spirited team players.
Players like Craig Bellamy are fighters, who will fight till the end no matter what. What will be their plans after gaining promotion?
Every promoted club cannot go in the Queens Park Rangers way; they aren’t blessed with bottomless money to buy their top targets.
Promoted clubs needs to show shrewdness in their business to acquire right players for the club. They need to look for value for money deals if possible.
Young and upcoming players with potential will be an attractive option. But they will be lacking the experience to face the tough situations and that has the potential to damage a good dressing room atmosphere.
Ambitious players needs proper guidance, otherwise they will cause havoc.
Their arises the need for value for money deals, and experienced campaigners will be the best fit. Players like Bellamy, who can be a fighter on the pitch and role model for the youngsters will be ideal.
Mackay is chasing a similar player after adding Bellamy to his squad earlier. Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt, Bellamy’s former team-mate, is a hard-working footballer and a nice person to have in the dressing room.
The Fenerbahce forward is someone who will pitch in with crucial goals - like the one he scored against Cardiff City in Carling Cup final. He is a tireless runner; he will be a worthy addition to the team, and a preacher of Mackay’s principles.
The 32-year-old striker still has two or three years remaining in his top-flight career, has more than 200 Premier League appearances under his belt and is a regular scorer.
It remains to be seen whether Cardiff City can convince the Liverpool star to join their camp. He ticks all the right boxes for the newly-promoted club, who gives more importance to team-work and togetherness.
Dirk Kuyt will be an ideal signing for Cardiff City and Malky Mackay, can they pull it off?
