Arsenal have been given a huge boost for this summer with the news that Jack Wilshere will be ready to start pre-season training next month.
According to the Mirror, the Gunners midfielder had surgery on the troublesome ankle that had resulted in him missing the whole of the 2011/12 Premier League season.
Wilshere underwent surgery to remove and replace screws placed into his ankle to solve the more serious problem.
The report claims the 21-year-old has been given the all clear to begin pre-season training and will be available for Arsenal’s tour of south east Asia before the start on the Premier League season in August.
This is a boost to both Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and England boss Roy Hodgson – the latter recently admitted the Three Lions had missed Wilshere and he will be looking to have him back for the World Cup qualifiers in September and October.
Wilshere is a favourite among Emirates Stadium fans and he was Arsenal’s best player at times last season, so they will hope a good pre-season will mean he starts the season in good shape.
