Chelsea striker Fernando Torres wants to become the world's best striker once again and believes new Blues manager Jose Mourinho can help him achieve that goal.

Torres hasn't enjoyed the greatest of spells at Chelsea and has failed to live up to his £50million price-tag since his move from Liverpool in January 2011.

Despite looking a lot better in the latter stages of the 2012/2013 campaign, the striker still looks a shadow of his former-self and reports were suggesting that he could end his time at Chelsea by moving back to Spain.

Reports were claiming that La Liga champions Barcelona were ready to bid £20million to bring Torres back to Spain and use him as an impact-substitute, but the striker himself has made it clear that he wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place.

New manager Jose Mourinho has already set his sights on signing a new striker and has pinpointed Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic, Napoli's Edinson Cavani and Manchester City's Edin Dzeko as possible targets.

Despite the news that Mourinho wants to sign a new striker, Torres is confident that he can gain a first-team place at Stamford Bridge and he is willing to stay and fight for that spot.

And the striker has also revealed he hopes Jose Mourinho will help him find his old-form.

"I want to continue, I want to complete the contract I signed and continue winning trophies and I would like to be the best in the world in my position again," he explained.

"There’s no better place than to be than at Chelsea with Mourinho."

He continued: "His (Jose's) words motivate me. He’s said he doesn’t want to speak with the players that are in this tournament (Confederations Cup) until it’s over.

"We will meet soon, he will explain what he thinks of me and my situation, and I’ll tell him what I think.

"His trophies and achievements speak for himself. Not all the best coaches have been footballers.

"If you start to think about the players that have been in his teams, the strikers, they have all had great years.

Despite insisting his future lies with Chelsea, he has also stated his delight at being linked with a club like Barcelona.

"It’s always nice to hear about interest from clubs like Barcelona, but my plan is to stay at Chelsea," said the 29-year-old.
