New York Yankees survive Angels fightback

The New York Yankees survived a late scare by the Los Angeles Angels to win 6-5 in the latest round of Major League Baseball fixtures.

Yankees were 6-0 up going into the final innings of the match, where Angeles scored five to get the visitors sweating.

There was a big win for the Oakland Athletics as they thrashed the Seattle Mariners 10-2 while the Toronto Blue Jays were 7-2 victors over the Texas Rangers. The Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the same scoreline.

The Houston Astros and New York Mets were both one score winners as they beat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 and Chicago Cubs 5-4 and 4-3 respectively.

There were 5-2 wins for the Colorado Rockies who beat the Philadelphia Phillies and for the Detroit Tigers over the Minnesota Twins.

Elsewhere, the Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates were also winners in an evening of eventful action.
