Carlisle United have signed former Liverpool winger David Amoo from Tranmere Rovers, following his release from Anfield.
Amoo becomes Carlisle manager Gregg Abbott's first summer signing of the season, putting pen-to-paper on a two-year contract that will see him stay at Brunton Park until the summer of 2015.
London-born Amoo began his career with Millwall, before joining Liverpool aged 16. Amoo was widely tipped to become the next big name to emerge from the Liverpool academy, but the winger failed to make an appearance in the Liverpool first team.
The youngster then completed loan moves at MK Dons, Hull City and Bury before Preston North End signed Amoo at the start of the 2012 season. He then joined Tranmere Rovers in January, and went on to make 11 appearances for the Superwhites.
And Carlisle manager Gregg Abbott is delighted to have signed the former Liverpool winger.
Speaking to Carlisle's official website, Abbott said: "David fits the bill of the type of player we want to bring into the squad. He's quick and exciting on the ball and we thing he'll bring a bit of the flair and pace we've been talking about."
Abbott is hopeful that the 22-year-old can settle in Cumbria and produce some of the performances that saw him succeed in the Liverpool youth academy.
"The important thing for us is that he wants to play football," Abbott added. "He's at an age where he's ready to kick on and, hopefully, that's exactly what will happen here with us. He's one we're really looking forward to working with."
