Resplendent, clever and effortless performances have seen the reputation of 20-year-old Atletico Mineiro's Bernard heightened.

This has conceivably seen an ascension of clubs battling to sign the youthful playmaker.

According to reports, Tottenham are keen on signing the player, who is currently with the Brazil squad at the Confederations Cup.

Standing at 5ft 4in tall, Bernard has heard the disparaging comments about his physical stature before, but this is something that the Brazilian has never allowed affect his game.

At the tender age of 18 he broke into the first team at the Estadio Independencia after a crippling injury crisis struck the team and he was required to fill in at the right-back position.

Since then he has gone on to become a regular for the Galo and, in the process, went on to earn three caps for the Seleção.

His low centre of gravity, graceful style of play and his unselfish distribution have seen him shine in a talented Aletico Mineiro side alongside former FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldinho.

The youngster has seen himself been deservedly praised and lauded by various players and media outlets. Intense speculation will only increase as Bernard continues to perform strongly and it is hard to imagine the player not looking to further advance his talents in Europe at some stage in his career.
