Last season was a frustrating one for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, being restricted to coming on from the bench at Arsenal made it difficult for the youngster to make the same impact he had in his first season at the club.
Much was unfairly expected of him with fans comparing him to the highly rated Jack Wilshere in terms of the potential importance he could have at Arsenal in the coming years, but let's not forget he's still only 19 years of age.
There were glimpses of the talent he showcased in the previous season but being on the bench didn't allow him to impress like he did against AC Milan and Manchester United the previous campaign.
Against AC Milan especially he looked the real deal in the centre of midfield. The greatest attribute he showcased during the game was his maturity; passing and holding up the ball comfortably in midfield, taking on players and his ability to recognise when to attack and when to sit deep were staggering for someone of his age.
His best performances last season came in an England shirt, culminating in a memorable goal against Brazil at the Maracana. The arrival of The Ox during the friendly lifted England's performance and gave the opposition something to think about. It's this kind of impact he needs to bring to Arsenal next year in the Premier League.
How do you see The Ox progressing next season? Can he be the next big thing for England? Leave your thoughts below.
