Gareth Bale cleaned up ahead of Robin van Persie at the end of season awards ceremonies for the 2012/13 Premier League season – but was he the most dangerous player in the competition?

The Tottenham Hotspur talisman is being linked with world record transfer bids, so he must have been doing something right, but GMS was unsure about whether he deserved to win the awards ahead of Van Persie – though not the Young Player of the Year award, obviously.

However, the gongs were handed out after votes from peers and journalists, so one can’t really criticise the legitimacy of Bale’s triumph, only disagree – though he was bloody good.

GMS wanted something a little more concrete to hold on to, so we decided to try and illustrate the Premier League’s most dangerous players through the glorious medium of statistics.

WhoScored.comWe feel that using the fantastic website that is , working out the most dangerous players in the league would not be too difficult.

Simply by adding together the number of assists and goals scored, we would essentially be able to see the players that were responsible for the most goals.

GMS are happy to accept some may not come to the same conclusion, but our thinking was basically this: the more goals there are because you scored or assisted them, the more dangerous a player you are.

We don’t think that is too great a stretch of logic and we have worked out the five most dangerous players in the 2012/13 Premier League.
