Tottenham are weighing up a surprise move for Napoli defender Federico Fernandez, according to reports. The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Getafe, and Spurs are lining up an £8m bid as they look to replace the departed William Gallas.

Arsenal look set to miss out on Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic because of the Montenegrin's wage demands. Jovetic reportedly wants £120,000-a-week but the Gunners are reluctant to break their pay structure to secure the 23-year-old.

Isco has admitted he faces a straight choice between Real Madrid and Manchester City this summer. But the Spain under-21 star insists he has not held talks with new City boss Manuel Pellegrini and that the Chilean's appointment will not be a decisive factor in his decision.

Chelsea have reportedly won the race to sign Bristol City teenager Jacob Maddox. The 14-year-old is widely regarded to be one of the brightest talents in the country after already making the step up to the under-18s age group.

The official team sheet from Sir Alex Ferguson's first game in charge at Manchester United is to be sold at auction. The hand-written line-up for the game against Oxford is expected to fetch somewhere in the region of £2,500 when sold later this month.

Barcelona star Pedro found the net for Spain as the reigning World Champions kicked off their Confederations Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over Uruguay. Valencia striker Roberto Soldado also got on the scoresheet for Vicente Del Bosque's side in Brazil.
