In the January transfer window Manchester United decided to splash £15m on Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha.

He was given his debut for Crystal Palace in 2010 against Cardiff City and since has gone on to make 126 appearances for his club, scoring 13 goals.

Quite the extravagant young man before signing for United, he stated - somewhat confidently for a lad who hadn't hit the main stage yet - "I'd never look at someone and think he's better than me, unless it's Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. When I get on the pitch it's my time."

Since signing a deal with United Zaha went on to win the Championship Player of the Year and was the main man on the field throughout Palace's promotion battle lighting up the play-offs and giving Manchester United fans cause for excitement.

Watching the play-offs it was clear to see Zaha hadn't let the reality of joining the biggest club on the planet get to him. He played his heart out for Palace and their fans.

It delivers the message to us that he cares, he is determined, he is a winner, he wants to succeed and will give his all no matter what the circumstances.

But what can we expect from him in his first season?

With United's wingers in poor form last season and the uncertainty surrounding Nani's future we may see Zaha get more playing time than first expected. David Moyes has never been afraid to test younger players as we have seen at Everton so that bodes well for him.

Why United fans will want to see Zaha is because he brings something different, something out of the ordinary. You only have to see him take control of the ball once and his instincts tell him to run at players, dribble, use his flair. He isn't discouraged if he loses out the first time he will try and try again and again.

We can expect some inconsistencies in his game early in the season whilst dazzling us with his trickery. It will be frustrating but the potential will be there for all to see. He does lack goals so far in his career and this is an area that needs great improvement.

At 20 years of age, Zaha has been warranted an amazing opportunity in life. To play for Manchester United. Will he grasp the opportunity?
