England squad announced for U20 World Cup

England U20 coach Peter Taylor has submitted his final 21-man squad for the upcoming U20 World Cup in Turkey.

Taylor will be hoping his youngsters can fair significantly better than Stuart Pearce’s Under-21 counterparts at the recent European U21 Championships and will be looking for the likes of captain Connor Coady and Southampton's promising James Ward-Prowse to fire his side to glory.

Seven of the party flying out to Turkey already have some kind of Premier League experience, whilst the likes of Ross Barkley and Harry Kane have also had successful loan spells in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall, respectively.

England Under-20 World Cup squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Sam Johnstone (Manchester United), George Long (Sheffield United), Connor Ripley (Middlesbrough)

Defenders: Eric Dier (Sporting Lisbon), Jon Flanagan (Liverpool), Jamaal Lascelles (Nottingham Forest), Danny Potts (West Ham United), Adam Reach (Middlesbrough), John Stones (Everton), Tom Thorpe (Manchester United)

Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Gael Bigirimana (Newcastle United), Conor Coady (Liverpool), Larnell Cole (Manchester United), John Lundstram (Everton), James Ward Prowse (Southampton)

Forwards: Chris Long (Everton), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Alex Pritchard (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Williams (Middlesbrough)

England kick-off their campaign against Iraq on Sunday 23 June and will also face Chile and Egypt in Group E of the competition which also features the likes of France, Spain and Mexico.
