'New Cristiano Ronaldo' enjoying comparisons
Jese Rodriguez hoping to be like Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo
Young Real Madrid forward Jese Rodriguez admits he enjoys comparisons made between himself and Cristiano Ronaldo, and has revealed he intends to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 20-year-old scored 22 goals in the Spanish Segunda Division for Real Madrid's Castilla side last season, with his performances encouraging some to compare his attributes to those of Ronaldo.
Following on from his impressive campaign outside of the Real Madrid first-team, Jese now hopes he can progress into the senior set-up at the Santiago Bernabeu - with the ambition of featuring in the same Los Blancos team as Ronaldo.
"I have liked a lot of players; the Brazilian Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, but my favourite is Cristiano Ronaldo. I like being compared to him," Jese told Marca.
"I love his drive. He never gets tired of scoring goals. He always wants more.
"The club president is happy with me. I hope to reach an agreement and stay at the club. I really want to play in the first team."
Jese may not, however, be granted the privilege of playing alongside Ronaldo for Real Madrid, with the Portugal international a reported summer transfer window target for Manchester United and Monaco.
The latest reports claim Ronaldo will be advised to resist the advances of Monaco and opt to run down his contract with Real Madrid - which expires in 2015 - in order to secure an eventual free transfer back to Manchester United.
Ronaldo left Old Trafford for Real Madrid in the summer transfer window of 2009, and has scored 201 times in 199 appearances during his time in the Spanish capital.
