Sachin Tendulkar beaten by Shahrukh Khan as most popular father

Published 1 Comments

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has beaten Sachin Tendulkar to the honour of being named the most popular father in India, following a public poll to celebrate Father's Day last weekend.

Khan polled 34.83 percent of the votes cast on website Shaadi.com, with veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan placed second, and Tendulkar claiming third position with a share of 18.61 percent of the vote.

Khan, or SKR as he is known in his native India, has two children by his wife Gauri Chibber - a son named Aryan, born in 1997, and a daughter called Suhana, who was born three years later.

SKR and Gauri have been married since 1991, and are currently planning to have a third child via surrogacy.

Tendulkar, meanwhile, also has a son named Aryan (born September 1999), who is a talented cricket prospect, and was selected earlier this year to represent Mumbai at under-17 level.

The India batsman has a daughter by the name of Sara who will be 16 in October, with both children born to his wife Anjali, whom he married at the age of 22 and has been with almost 20 years.
